I tested the last patch and I can confirm that my build succeeds including all
the tests. I also rechecked the build profile option and can also confirm that
works either.
All looks very promising.

ucf' and then building the deb package from there with 'debuild -F -uc -us'
My build environment is a container based on Debian trixie. I tested it with
podman as well with dockerd.

these two patches work, but not all errors are fixed. The Makefile now respects
the DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS=nocheck.
Also one of the missing tests is now successful.
However, there are still 6 tests failing.
