Package: bash Version: 3.1-1 Followup-For: Bug #343471 I'm able to confirm this bug. Exactly the same buggy behavior at the beginning of a bash session. Others shells work fine (sh, dash). Oddly, exiting from the latter shells (as children of bash) and returning to bash fixes the problem for that
