The same problem happens when the background is set to a solid colour or
slideshow; it looks exactly like with an SVG. I would have expected to see the
colour or a preview of the image which is currently set as background (meaning
the current item of the slideshow) to be put into the preview.

when choosing a SVG-wallpaper like the default in debian, the preview/thumbnail
of the activity panel shows no background.
When turning the same one in a "normal" image format like png, preview suceeds.

when opening the sort menu in the "applications" tab, hovering over the
items makes them disappear. They're also unclickable.
So far I tried to change settings around, however it didn't affect this
