I've replaced COLLEGE.ttf with FreeMono-Medium.ttf (from the debian
fonts package) Please let me know if you find any other componets
that don't comply with the Debian DSFG-required freedoms.

mostly MP3 playlists. This is specifically when playing a file read from
http://.. I have not tested this when playing
files from the local FS.

The solution they provided was to disable the plugins you don't
need, thus reducing the number of calls. They also said that in
1.4.x they will check mime-type first (for http streams) which
should hopefully reduce the load a bit.
