It seems to me that what causes the bug is the logratate configuration.
By adding "create 0640 redis redis" to /etc/logrotate.d/redis-server, I
solved the problem on my servers.

There should be missing an "else" in debian/rules which implies
WITH_OPENGL is always ON for ubuntu (overriding previous if-else
