I took these two patches from Arch Linux and applied them to the Debian
package and it seems to be working correctly now under Gnome-shell.

This package should recommend snmp-mibs-downloader from non-free, it would only
work with very limited hardware otherwise.
Personally, I think perhaps cacti-spine itself should be moved to non-free, if
it is found to actually depend on
that support inetd in addition to xinetd, will drop
files in /etc/xinetd.d/ _and_ add entries in /etc/inetd.conf,
enabling them using update-inetd.
Obviously this is a very minor problem, but I thought it was confusing enough
that there should be a bug report.

The program that is giving the error is either nwmovies or BinkPlayer. The
first could be fixed, if that's the case (since it's open sourced) but
BinkPlayer is closed source and would have to be fixed by Radtools.
Here is the relevant message that was sent to me, and how I discovered this
