After reading the previous post regarding [DSA 816-1], I tried
downgrading libxpm4 to the previous version (xfree86 4.3.0.dfsg.1-14).
No effect. However downgrading all xfree86 packages to 4.3.0.dfsg.1-14
worked. Using kernel 2.

I just recompiled mozilla-firefox on sarge by changing debian/rules to
have --disable-xinerama instead of --enable-xinerama (hence the
1.0.4-2sarge2jds1 version). Preliminary testing shows that history is
working again.
