Under Etch, an ordinary user can't start the windowing system.
In this test, /etc/rc2.d has been edited so that it doesn't start

The user "anna" logs in and issues the command

You have narrowed down the bug. The lpr command installed by etch
belongs to the lpr package, not to cupsys-bsd. Nevertheless, the Etch

This is a preliminary report. I can do more detailed tests and file
a new bug report, if desired.
A quick test with debian-installer on floppies, which uses a 2.4.27
kernel, shows that the Tulip board works with two 3C905B boards also
present, if I unload the de4x5 driver and load
If the target machine is configured with two identical 3C905B
boards:
eth0 gets assigned to IRQ 11 and shared with uhci_hcd:usb1.
eth1 gets assigned to IRQ 10 and shared with cs46xx.
With two 3C509B boards installed and configured, the kernel can also
assign an IRQ to one ISA-PNP

Unlike kernel-image-2.6.8, this kernel does not leave enough IRQs
available for ISA boards.
The test machine has hardware configured as a 3-port Ethernet router
and firewall. It works as intended under a stock Sarge distribution

This doesn't make any sense to me. I'll see if I can get an answer
