Hi,
I just tried Scribus 1.4.4+dfsg1-2 from sid, and the bug appears to be
resolved (partially, for me).
The language slot in the hyphenation preferences appeared empty in the
previous build, but now it shows english (USA) as the only available
language.
I checked the dependencies of scribus, and
I'm affected too. I think I found the cause of the segfault, or at least
a hint to take a look.
The new version of Fonty Python is compiled against python-wxgtk3.0.
Since the problem apparently started since the upgrade to that version
of the library I tried installing the old from wheezy (depends

Since the update of Scribus in my Debian Jessie
Bug #757247 should be merged with this, as it appears that the problem
described has the same origin.
Also, the patch to python-PIL suggested in that bug report fixes this issue.
