Dear Maintainer,
Using checkinstall to create a Debian package that installs a kernel module
adds three undesired files.
$ sudo checkinstall
The package created contained three unwanted files:
/lib/modules/$(uname -r)/modules.softdep
/

Hmmm why do Ubuntu kernels do such a stupid thing? qemu ATAPI
devices shoud be /dev/hda, and they should expect things break.
Indeed, there are some surprises from the 2.6.20 kernel

When I try qemubuilder with linux-image-2.6.24-17-generic, a Ubuntu
Hardy kernel, the boot process stops at the "Waiting for root file
system..." step with this error:
