Changing the shell to dash, I can not reproduce this problem,
The perl command [perl -e '$<=$>=$(=$)=1000; system bash'] can reproduce it,
but still not consistently.
It does look the same as

I have narrowed it down to something with "-su" process that gets created.
I don't seem to be able to recreate this for just a normal "su -", but
