Would it be possible to package this in a way that doesn't require running
as the root user? The current packaging creates a significant security risk
for the entire system.

* What led up to the situation?
install snort; start it (systemctl start snort). kill snort daemon with killall
-u snort ; try to start killed processed
with systemctl start; it' won't start. (check with ps -u snort; )
