Beep does not work when it has ioctl permissions. No error is reported,
no audio produced via the pc speaker chipset.

Ive found that current versions of xserver-xfree86 on Debian are capable
of detecting the 1280x768 native resolution of my sceptre display via
DDC. This option is missing however from the list of available modes
I'll verify the issue is happening with my system:
HP PA-8600 552mhz (2 cpu's)
at the #gen stage in /usr/sbin/update-mozilla-firefox-chrome:
firefox-bin -register >/dev/null 2>&1 ||...
I remove the redirects to /dev/null to allow firefox to output. No change
in behavior is offered, firefox.bi
