When I create a deb using either make-pkg (for kernels) or dh_make for
invidulal debs , the wrong version of libc is detected always.
linux-headers-2.6.22-rc4-2 depends on libc6 (>= 2.6-1); howev
I just compiled another program - this is a libc error not a kernel package
error.

fine.
Command used to build kernel
fakeroot make-kpkg --initrd --append-to-version=-2 kernel_image kernel_headers
Build was successful.
libc version is 2.6-0exp2
I am using unstable and the bug is not reproducible.
It can be closed right away.
I have a folder that I keep track of any bugs I file now so as not to forget
them like this one. Sorry for the lack of follow up.

This package still works with the testing version, but the package itself
resides in unstable so it would seem that the package would support that
distrubution.
Also, deleting the pre-removal script was easier than downgrading. I don't
know why I didn't try that sooner.

It works fine as root.
I can verify that this package is the cuprit because downgrading to
1:7.1.0-5 fixed the problem.

I applied the patched and replaced the script.
It works but two observations:
The progress bar during boot does not start until after the kernel part is
done (which makes sense since it is an init script) Once it comes on it
works very well.
During shutdown it hits the halfway mark then start
This is a stupid question, but how would I use this?
I guess I would replace the splash script in /sbin with yours. That part is
simple enough.

Any news about this bug? Now that Linux 2.6.17 is in unstable, this
