First, the mitigation: adding this into /etc/default/fluidsynth mostly
mitigates this issue, but does not resolve it:

Dear Maintainer,
I first encountered this problem on my main home Debian box, but
have now reproduced it on a fresh VM I did nothing to after the
initial install except:
1) dist-upgrade to jessie
2) install and configure apache2 as below

traneous padding too:
...
CARD32 length B32;
CARD16 num_encodings B16;
CARD32 padl3 B32;
...
And even without this padding sz_xvQueryEncodingsReply=32 is wrong,
as the fields sum up to 34 and with that padding we're at 36.

This patch looks better than the previous (i.e. the unused int in the
test is gone), but:
- it's targeting version 1.8.1 (we've 1.9 atm.), which is not a problem,
as it doesn't touch any files besides debian/ an

Clearly, I'm swamped with other stuff going on, so if you're still
able to do this I'd really appreciate it.

I'm sorry for not responding earlier, but I'm having trouble
understanding your bug report:
- itcl3 *is* a listed dependency for tkdesk. Your own system clearly
thinks so, since it included it in the report of packages tkdesk
depends on.
- Your system is under the impression that you have itcl 3.2

No kidding. It could also use an upstream that did well,
anything. Maybe the tcl group that's getting together will help.

This sounds like your install of blt is seriously pooched
Are you certain that your copy of perl-base is:
1) Reasonably up-to-date (at least compared to your copy of perl), and
2) Not corrupt or missing part of it?
I ask because pbuilder build trees from the middle of December
