I'm sorry. I can not reproduce the problem anymore.
Till yesterday I switched the Cool'n'Quit function off and after your
reminder I turned it on again. I have no problems anymore.
Perhaps there was a problem with my grafic card before, because I had to
replace it some weeks ago.

I have no fans in my system. Its a passive cooled system.
Perhaps the kernel tries to adjust a fan

While starting Gnome I've switched with CTRL+1 to the first text console
and got this tail of stacktrace instead of a reboot.

I don't think this is a NVIDIA problem. Please try to get your system back
into the state before running nvidia-xconfig, e..g move /etc/X11/xorg.conf
You're right, after deleting the xorg.conf I could start my system two
times (with poor resolution), but after these two times, I couldn't
