I am using the libpam-mysql pam module.
My /etc/pam-mysql.conf is untouched. The configuration is in /etc/pam.d/smtp
authrequired pam_mysql.so user=ispconfig passwd=
host=127.0.0.1 db=dbispconfig table=mail_user usercolumn=email
passwdcolumn=password crypt=1
account sufficient pam_mysql
