Xorg -configure stops with an error "configuration failed".
Could you please provide a basic xorg.conf that just set the driver
to vesa?
You should be able to find examlples on the internet.
I tried without success.
It seems Xorg refuses / is not able to find vesa module.

I wrote "IMHO unfit for release" after "-" in the "Justification"
header, but I don't know why it was put in the subject.
