a UTF-8 locale while our test runner script was setting LC_ALL=C;

Hi. I tried to reproduce this with sid using sbuild yesterday, but I
found that the build succeeded. Perhaps it it a change to one of the
dependencies or build tools?
I'm wondering if another build of nix will be attempted before it is
removed from testing.

Hi. The attached trivial patch should fix this.
Unfortunately, the package does not pass the autopkgtests, so this is
as far as I could go. The tracker page says this:
A new upstream version is available: 2025.7.0
so maybe things should work better in such version.
