Just adding, this isn't only a feature request but results in
non-bootable systems.
If one of the os-probe'd systems e.g. is also a Debian, it will drop
into an initramfs due to not finding the root device.
This is due to - within the initramfs - the VGs as part of the the LVM

FYI, i managed to complete the workaround attempted above
and install a working python3.8 venv in "sid"
by downloading and unpacking python3-distutils from "buster"[1]
(which is for Python 3.7.3-1: all)
and then moving it over in 3.8 directory:
sudo dpkg --unpack ~/Downloads/python3-distutil

The workaround mentioned in bug #935734 seems to work: configuring
cgroup_controllers = [ ] in /etc/libvirt/qemu.conf and restarting
