I should add, at first I didn't see this problem on my G3 iBook, but
then I remembered I had KMS/radeon disabled because it gave me
a blank screen. So I enabled KMS/radeon, and working blindly I can
see the same slow-motion fading effect on the iBook.

things under a supervisor tool becomes more and more common
these days. I am considering supervisord at this point.
