Your problem is that /dev/oprofile/0 is missing because the perf counters used
by OProfile are already used by the NMI watchdog.
The solution consists in disabling the NMI watchdog before trying to use

No need to, i just manual-merged your patch (bzr errored out on the
try to merge¹) and commit
the same thing happened to me a while ago.
i thought it might only be a bad joke (reading about restart being
deprecated and losing network connection / ssh access at the same time),
especially because it works just fine with my RHEL-servers.

acccount. After removing a contact from its only group (don't rememember
