As far as I know, it comes with Windows since 3.0 and Google tells me that
MS have a version of it in Vista as well. However,

No need to unset Windows variables, just set it in cygwin.bat. Something
like:
set HOME=c:\cygwin\home\myid
gets turned into
$HOME=/home/myid

No, they are not there, that's the reason for my posting.
I read that HOMEPATH and HOMEDRV are special and set by windows in some
obscure way. They can't be changed thru
