Actually, as long as we're correcting people it is "To whom it may concern".
Using an acronym in a greeting is, IMO, no big deal

I use very few acronyms (but a few years doing DARPA-funded work will do
that to you), but I do occasionally use that one. I usually figure that in
context it's either obvious or at least would force people to think a bit.
It's also immaterial to the content of the message.
