I encountered the problem that the avx2 code crashes with segfault.
This happens if the cygwin gcc or cygwin mingw gcc compiler is used.
To reproduce the problem, compile the following test case with:
gcc -O0 avx2test.c -mavx2 -o avx2test
or
x86_64-w64-mingw32-gcc -O0 avx2test.c -mavx2 -o
results.
To reproduce the problem, right click on the icon in the upper left corner of a
mintty window and choose options. On the options dialog, choose terminal and
check the option to turn on the status line. Then click save. The current
window shows a status line but attempts to start a new
research, I saw a
stackdump was being generated. I had to get to the .minttyrc file and remove
the StatusLine=yes to get it to work again. I tried the same scenario on
another Windows 10 machine as well as a Windows 11 machine with the same
results.

probably says Skip. Click on the arrow in that field and select the
newest package number, which should be 1.06.95-2.
At the bottom of that page, click on Next and follow whatever
instructions follow. That should install bc as /usr/bin/bc.

recompiled for Cygwin (often with patches
to make them compile properly under Cygwin).
bc is (logically enough) in the bc package.
