How is cron started

At the moment, my piece of crap mobo wants to screw up every now and then. I'm looking for a different mobo and processor. Tonight, for example, it decided to croak and reboot. So, I wanted to turn off having to log in so that my stuff will restart. I don't remember how I set XP to cause the log
