Dear CYGWIN, Thanks for your help the other day with the pinfo assert - the patch did the trick. This problem is to do with widely discussed fork problem. On this version of CYGWIN (CYGWIN_NT-6.1-WOW64 SERPENS 1.7.17s(0.262/5/3) 20120827 05:19:25 i686 Cygwin) the problem appears more prevalent
