nd removal capabilities. I'm wondering if there are
other efforts out there to pump up the setup's capability to handle these

I have further circumscribed the problem:
"gcc cprogram.c -o cprogram.exe- v"
creates the following output, i.e. it trys to run the following programs:
Reading specs from /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i686-pc-cygwin/2.95.3-5/specs
gcc version 2.95.3-5 (cygwin special)
*** cpp0.exe *

I'm trying and trying but I can't figure out, what I'm making wrong.
If I run gcc, e.g. "gcc hello.c -o hello" it doesn't print any messages, as
if everything went fine,
but it never produces an executable. If I give it a code full of errors, it
doesn't even complain and it
never prints an err
