Just as reference for others - I now did it this way:
1. Install Cygwin 2004-06-24, start bash
2. Unpack the Cygwin core source package:
tar xvjf /cygdrive/e/release/cygwin/cyg
hes list but not yet included
(http://www.cygwin.com/ml/cygwin-patches/2004-q3/msg00039.html).
But thx for noting this! Certainly we respect the GPL and other Open Source
licenses and not only try to fulfill their requirements but whenever possible
(and sensible) we feedback our changes to the
ild a package, but I can't find
it for the cygwin package itself.
Any help or hint is greatly appreciated...

shell script. It's not overly complicated, is it?
I'll try to do this as soon as I have something around an hour of spare time.
But I can't promise anything, sorry... :-(

uot;
- chown SYSTEM /etc/ssh_host_* /var/empty
- net start sshd
- try to login with "ssh localhost"
So for me it seems as sshd is installed as service but this last check somehow
fails.

But even if you start the script, it's necessary to do this manually as I
wrote above. I saw this on three different installations done from a Cygwin
Snapshot taken on Thu Jun 24 10:30:01 CEST 2004.
But maybe it's
1062 starting a service.
For me it was necessary to chown /etc/sshd_* and /var/empty to user SYSTEM
manually in current Cygwin versions so that sshd would start.
I also didn't need to do that in earlier Cygwin versions.

And this is (IMHO) a little bit in contrary to the current stat() behaviour...
But I certainly can see and understand your point that it requires some work
which is not done yet... ;-)

Hmmm, is there any other way how one can use two different Cygwin
installations in parallel beside using no mounts?

You can also have a look in /etc/setup.

Does accessing the URL with a browser work? What about "ping sources
redhat.com"? Any answer? What about telnetting sources.redhat.com to port 80?
