It's all an embarrassing false alarm due to a poor choice of font. The process I saw was actualy sdclt.exe, not sddt.exe. Sadly, they are almost indistinguishable in the sans serif font chosen for task manager. Thanks to all for your assistance, Eric -- Eric Freudenthal, Assistant Prof
