Sorry if this has been asked and answered already, but I couldn't find it in
the FAQ or archives.
Especially with the announced "end-of-life" for gcc V3, I was trying to make
certain that I was using gcc V4.
When I did a complete re-install of Cygwin and selected ONLY the gcc4
packages (core, C c

I recently installed and started (trying to) use Cygwin. I did this, NOT
because I am someone who is used to or even knows UNIX or Linux, but rather

several features that I found documented, several places say that they can't
find
show-paren-mode
(or that the function is "void").
I have searched online thinking (in my non-Lisp, non-XEmacs way), that there

I have tried reinstalling the ncurses and the rxvt (with and without
"enhanced Unicode) features and am still having problems.
When I go to the
/usr/share/libs/ncurses/test
directory under by "normal" bash shell and enter
./ncurses
everything looks good.
However, when I try this under the rxvt
