too many dlls for availability address space".
Was that using ash or dash after ensuring that all other cygwin
processes have terminated (including any cygwin terminals that you have
open) ?

Thank you for the suggestions. The Linux disk is newer and does not use SMR,
but for reading there should not be a big difference.
The windows box is running standalone without AD or anything similar.

upgrade to the latest cygwin. Currently I'm experimenting with version
3.0.7. I had been using cyglsa (in version 1.7) as a way to authenticate
gcc-9.2.0-1 has been uploaded for Cygwin. This version is for testing.
