Yeah that was a typo.. So my /etc/passwd & /etc/group file both have
the SYSTEM in them:
SYSTEM:S-1-5-18:18: - Group
SYSTEM:*:18:544:,S-1-5-18:: - passwd
Whenever I run 'ssh-host-config' I receive no echo from the terminal,
& I don't see 'cyg_srv' anywhere in my passwd file below:

My final understanding is this:

I tried disabling everything I could for Symantic, short of uninstalling
it from my system (which I think my IT department would not allow). I
then did a rebaseall and tried again and got the same fork errors.
I do not believe that I have any other software on my machine from the

Hi Jan,
Thanks for your help.
For some reason my message below is taking time to appear on Cygwin.com
If it does not appear could you forward it?
It's not the first time that that particular list ignores my messages :(
By the way, if you still get an error with the fixes sugge

Hi!
I've got back and tried to set up sshd again.
Now it tricks me in other way. It fails on seteuid() when I try to connect
with a domain user.

Hi there,
I have a windows 7 Professional 64 bit machine. I am trying to compile a
simple hello world program and am getting fork errors.
I have tried rebaseall, increasing the size of the Windows SharedSection in the
registry
The available package seems to be outdated, and makes trouble on Windows
7 64 bit. Is there plans for updating the package for cygwin?

Cygwin 1.5.25 is not supported anymore. It also was never ported
to Windows 7 or 2008 R2. Use at your own risk.

Hi
I have this problem only on Windows 2008 R2 64bits on Windows 2003 it
works fine.
I'm still using a CYGWIN version 1.5.25.
I have a process which loads a XX.DLL with the functions
(lt_dlinit,lt_dlopen..).
When this process calls popen(), popen returns NULL and errno is set to
"No child
