Pretty sure it wound up being an entware issue but was infuriating
enough I uninstalled all the entware packages and re-installed them as
optware.
The optware one is having no problems at all.
It's a shame cause entware is supposedly more "stable" and has more
up-to-date packages and all other
mitted by law.
