At least in my case I don't think it's a hardware fault. It occurs when
building on real MIPS hardware and under qemu-mips on x64, but not when

For the last few days, current git-head of binutils is unable to build
libstdc++ during cross-build of gcc:

native builds are also affected: for example gcc-4.9.1 built natively fails
with
libtool: link: mipsel-softfloat-linux-gnu-gcc -shared .libs/lto-plugin.o
-Wl,--as-needed -static-libgcc -Wl,-O1 ../libib

Patch "ld: Add --enable-separate-code" by H.J. Lu (git commit
f6aec96dce1ddbd8961a3aa8a2925db2021719bb) is the first bad one. I suppose
linux has to be patched to disable this feature?

Thanks, yes it's fixed now. Final binary is even 8 bytes smaller now.
