Then why does gas create any DWARF info at all for this?
I am working on an application which generates an ELF/DWARF file from an input
file which contains only the hex code of the instructions, not

The error message you quote is certainly right for that line. Also, I cannot
reproduce the behavior here.
Could you attach the full gas/testsuite/gas.log, or at least the full fragment
pertaining to that partic

When binutils is compiled with -O0, this error:
gas/i386/intelbad.s:156: Error: operand type mismatch for `mov'
doesn't show up.

Started with AVX support, if i386-opc.c is compiled with -O0,
"i386 intelbad" will fail.
