ld´s changelog of 2.17.50.0.3 (or 4...) binutils says that this patch is
applied, but in fact it isn´t, as this version is still affected by this bug.

Please follow the release note of the Linux binutils 2.17.50.0.5. You need
to apply patches in patches PROPERLY. Or you should use binary rpmes.

The -mrelax support is broken for sh-elf since PIC code support was added.
Most of the work to fix this will likely be in bfd, ld and gas, although some
gcc changes may also be necessary.
IIRC I've fixed the switch tables once, but ordinary branches are still broken.

I have no problems with gcc 3.4/4.1 and glibc 2.3.4/2.4. It looks like
a glibc/gcc bug. Please upgrade your glibc first.
