All mass compilations of Binutils worked as expected. Linux kernel builds are
running, but no other regressions (and parisc and sh are fixed.)

OK, I have applied the patch.
I have a suspicion that the problem may exist for other long-format command
line options, so I am not going to close this PR just yet. I need to do some
