So... I am done with testing so far. I could not find any regressions. All my
problems are gone and I have linked ~2000 dlls using patched ld. About 120 I
have tried so far. All fine.

I just gave Alans patch a try. valgrind no longe reports an error!

I have seen that Alans patch is based also on Nicks patch and so had both
applied.
