In the section https://www.gnu.org/software/bash/manual/bash.html#Here-Strings
there is no mention (as far as I can see, it doesn't follow from the documented
expansions etc.) that the result is terminated with a newline (see e. g. od
<<<''). This puzzles users and leads to speculation - see e.
