I submitted the deletion request because the project is abandoned upstream, a
reason noted on the request form. I didn’t phrase it exactly like that, instead
stating that the developer said it is dead. The chroot error just being extra
information. Given that this package hadn’t been updated on
Request #52204 has been Rejected by ConnorBehan [1]:
Then the first thing to try is posting the error you get as a comment.

Fails to build in a clean chroot. On the projects SourceForge page the
developer state in 2017 and 2020 that the project was dead.
