Apparently core dumps (if enabled) are stored in the systemd journal. ~ $ cat /proc/sys/kernel/core_pattern |/usr/lib/systemd/systemd-coredump %p %u %g %s %t %e systemd-coredumpctl looks nice to use but I am not totally sure yet that collecting core dumps in the journal is something that I want
