[Bug 69687] JavaScript Causes Firefox 2.0 to Crash in Ubuntu (edgy)

2006-11-01 Thread warrendt
Public bug reported:

Whenever I access a site that uses javascript, Firefox crashes.
I disable javascript (which renders most sites unusable) the browser does not
crash.
I have a collegue that uses the same version and same release of ubuntu and it
works fine.
I upgraded from Dapper (LTS) and I have tried reinstalling firefox and all its
dependancies.
I use a browser like opera or epiphany and javascript works fine.
I have reinstalled java as well.

GMail.com after logging on crashes the browser everytime.

** Affects: firefox (Ubuntu)

Problem solved.

Dont know how the two were related but it was flash causing the browser to
crash.
Even when not a flash website. Looking in the plugins directory caused it to
crash.
There is a fix on the ubuntu forums page. Search for "flash crash" and there is
a line to put in the flashrc file.
