[Bug 406500] [NEW] hellanzb() utilizes vast amount of system memory, which is never released.

2009-07-29 Thread vhp
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: hellanzb

hellanzb() upon operation of 10 minutes or more nearly uses all
available system memory. The amount of memory does not matter, as I
have tried this with 4, 8 and 12GB of DDR2 system memory. All memory
throughly tested via memtest86 for proper functionality.

Description:Ubuntu 9.04
Release:9.04

  Version table:

Below shows a time stamp as well as the memory used at that time, possibly one
or two seconds after the time stamp. The first time stamp is prior to the
execution of hellnzb, on a freshly booted Ubuntu 9.04 AMD64 system.

[Bug 381318] Re: hellanzb hangs after transfering - doesn't unrar or move to done

2009-07-29 Thread vhp
I can confirm this bug. Though it does not only occur for me in Jaunty,
the same does occur in Intrepid. It does seem as if it should be quite
trivial to fix. I assume a simple logical check for .nzb extensions
would more than suffice. As for if Hellnzb is still in development, the
current release in 0.13 though their is a 0.14 trunk in the source tree.

[Bug 381318] Re: hellanzb hangs after transfering - doesn't unrar or move to done

2010-03-29 Thread vhp
Id like to note that the patch posted in post #17 by Mr. Marcel de
Vries, does not seem to work. In fact, it forced every download to the
stalled state, where it just says "Transferred 1641.1MB in 7m 49s at
3578.2KB/s ("file")". Since Mr. de Vries will no longer be working on
the project, another patch needs to be made. It would seem easier to
just delete all *.nzb files, rather than dealing with them.

[Bug 481116] [NEW] kernel Keyboard settings do not refresh if keyboard is unplugged

2009-11-11 Thread vhp
Public bug reported:

Upon enabling a setting of the keyboard such as caps lock and then
unplugging the keyboard. When you plug in the same or a different
keyboard the same setting caps lock will be enabled, though the keyboard
does not know this. So the caps lock setting will be enabled even when
the keyboard states it is disabled and when you enable the setting on
the keyboard your system will turn caps off even though you intended it
to be on. Right now I am typing with caps enabled on my keyboard,
though my system believes it is off.

I am submitting this bug, but will attempt a fix.

[Bug 997096] Re: nscd segmentation fault

2012-05-22 Thread vhp
Faced a similar issue with the newest version of nscd. Users in
netgroups would be able to use sudo one time. Once authed the nscd
process would die for all users. `/etc/init.d/nscd status` showed it
was not running

> /etc/init.d/nscd status

syslog showed the following

To resolve I removed the following from the bottom on /etc/nscd.conf

   enable-cachenetgroupyes
   positive-time-to-live netgroup28800
   negative-time-to-live netgroup20
   suggested-size netgroup211
   check-files netgroupyes
   persistent netgroupyes
   shared netgroupyes
   max-db-size netgroup33554432

Just removing these stopped the slow authentication time and more
importantly stopped the segfaults. Users in netgroups can now use sudo
and auth as many times as they like. There is still a bug to fix here.
Hopefully this workaround can help some until patched.
