[Bug 460746] Re: ~/.config/autostart and /etc/xdg/autostart ignored

2010-06-09 Thread tredegar
I have the same bug:

Programs supposedly called from the .desktop files in
~/.config/autostart do not run.

For example my "Update notifier" never runs, unless I start it manually.
I found this when I added an entry to turn off capslock. This is the
script that is called from the .desktop file:

#!/bin/bash
# Make capslock be shift
# sleep 10
xmodmap -e "remove Lock = Caps_Lock"
xmodmap -e "add Shift = Caps_Lock"

It does NOT work, unless I uncomment the "sleep 10", so I think this is
some sort of race-condition and xmodmap is being called before it can
function properly.

My kernel = 2.6.32-22-generic #36-Ubuntu SMP and 10.04 is up-to-date.

[Bug 550625] Re: Alps touchpad is recognized but synaptics clients and scrolling do not work

I can confirm this bug is still present.

I get the same results to xinput test as Gareth Halfacree at #84
I _wish_ I could disable tap-to-click!

[Bug 517503] [NEW] 8.04LTS: Upgrade to 2.6.24-27-generic kernel breaks grub

2010-02-05 Thread tredegar
Public bug reported:

This morning I upgraded to kernel 2.6.24-27-generic on my kubuntu
8.04.4LTS distro.

I chose to have menu.lst modified by "the maintainers" or whatever they
called themselves (I forget now).

Grub failed with "No such Partition" Error 22.
Previous kernels would not boot either, failing with the same error.

The relevant entry in menu.lst looked like this:

title Ubuntu 8.04.4 LTS, kernel 2.6.24-27-generic
root(hd0,5)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.24-27-generic root=/dev/sda5 ro vga=normal
initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.24-27-generic

This is how it always used to look. But I had to change the root line to
this:

root(hd0,4)

All the other menu entries also needed the (hdx,y) partition number
decrementing by one.

Now grub boots fine.

Hope this helps.

[Bug 706348] [NEW] Broken link

2011-01-22 Thread tredegar
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: libpng12-0

Apologies if xorg is the wrong place to put this, but it is a graphics-
library thing I think.

I have the packages libpng3 and libpng12-0 installed

The file /usr/lib/libpng.so.3 is a (broken) link pointing to
/usr/lib/libpng12.so
But the file libpng12.so is not in /usr/lib/ it is in plain old /lib/ and it is
itself a link, pointing to /lib/libpng12.so.0.42.0

So I had to fix the bug like this:
sudo rm /usr/lib/libpng.so.3
sudo ln -sT/lib/libpng12.so.0.42.0 /usr/lib/libpng.so.3

Thank you.
