Re: [Bug 478044] Re: 9.04 to 9.10 upgrade
Well, once it came to upgrade the Open office package, that is where the problem occurred; Quite a few packages where upgraded, then once the OpenOffice suite was being upgraded, the error message started showing up... After an hour of seeing nothing but something along the lines of the line of: "there was an error in in the , most likely caused by a bug in the dbus.." you would press Ctrl-C too. The message repeated occasionally, but quickly, at first then finally stopped, and nothing seemed to be going on in terms of disk activity. Ctrl-C was the most benign thing I could do at that point in time. Funny enough, processing continued on the remaining packages, and wasn't going to worry about it too much, figuring I could always put on a clean install if the upgrade was hosed. However everything else went along fine, then at the end a dialog came up saying that an error was detected and that the system could be unstable. Another dialog came up saying would I please report the detected error, so I did. Didn't think that it was considering Ctrl-C was the error. There was no other way I could see for it to continue processing other than pressing Ctrl-C in the progress window... or powercycling and having a hosed system for sure. I don't recall if I had any other options at that point in time - the dire warning of once the upgrade is in process you cannot stop ( or have an unstable system) certainly left no other options. You may call this invalid, but it certainly happened to me and I think I pursued the best possible option at that time. I saw this problem recently too. Printing through mousepad brings up the xfprint4 dialog (the same as calling "xfprint4" from command line) but then get error "client-error-bad-request". [Bug 109399] Re: DWL-610 network card no longer recognized under Feisty on Thinkpad X30
I got some good pointers from that article, and proceeded to grab the Realtek rt8180L driver source code from Sourceforge, got it compiled and deployed. However, although the card was detected and the ACT link light lit up, there was no connection established. Checking the output of "iwlist wlan1 scan" shows the Link Quality hovers consistently between 0/100 and 32/100, even though the laptop is practically next to the access point. I am beginning to think half of the problem is the device drivers for these old cards do not seem to be included in Feisty, but the other half seems to be the lack of support for these wireless devices in the kernel itself. The reason I am coming to this conclusion is because I had exactly the same outcome with a Belkin F5D7050 USB stick, which uses rt73 drivers (I downloaded and compiled up the driver and got it recognised by the kernel, only to get the same problem with the link quality). I would like to protect my investment in these wireless cards for a while, can you recommend a working wireless solution for Feisty ? -- DWL-610 network card no longer recognized under Feisty on Thinkpad X30 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/109399 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 109399] Re: DWL-610 network card no longer recognized under Feisty on Thinkpad X30
OK, I have some more information for you which might help you zero in on the problem. I have managed to get the DLink card working, but only under the following conditions: 1. The Access Point publishes the SSID. Hidden SSID simply kill the card 'link' light immediately 2. The IP address for the card is configured to be static. DHCP mode works only first time when the laptop is started up. Subsequent to that, if you pull out the wireless card and plug it back in, not matter what you do, the laptop simply fails to acquire a new dynamic IP address. 3. You have to boot up using the generic version of the kernel (2.6.20-15-generic) from the boot menu, or the source code above will not compile (I was booting up using the 2.6.20-15-386 at one point, and had loads of problems looking for the modules related files in the kernel source tree). 4. The rt8180 module is compiled and deployed with the kernel (the source I downloaded from the Sourceforge website was written for a 2.4 kernel. I made the appropriate patches to get it to compile under 2.6 kernel. The source code is attached below). So all in all, it seems support for wireless is broken somewhat (I still could not get the Belkin F5D7570 USB stick to work, even after trying the above). I can live with it for now, but the situation is hardly ideal, specially for folks who expect this stuff to work out of the box, as it did with Edgy Eft 6.10. ** Attachment added: "rtl8180-0.21-kernel2.6.tgz" http://librarian.launchpad.net/7469195/rtl8180-0.21-kernel2.6.tgz -- DWL-610 network card no longer recognized under Feisty on Thinkpad X30 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/109399 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1882158] Re: nm-applet /usr/lib/libnma.so.0: version `libnma_1_8_22' not found (required by nm-applet)
Just a follow up on this issue: The libnma.xxx inside '/usr/lib' are versioned 0.0.0. I did some searches and suspected it might be due to a broken upgrade (to note that the upgrading from 18.04.4 LTS to 20.04 LTS went smooth, no issues). [Bug 1834085] Re: Bluetooth touchpad (Apple Magic Trackpad) disconnects every few minutes
Disabling upower isn't enough -- it will start up again when an app (such as your browser) requires power management support. You have to uinstall upower from your system. (Note that this will make some apps, such as steam, unstable.) This bug started happening when I switched out my wifi card. I have a Dell XPS 9560. My Magic Mouse only started having these disconnect issues after I switched to an Intell 9260 card. I might switch back to Killer card to verify. [Bug 685155] [NEW] Firefox collapsed navigation and bookmarks toolbar causes crashes
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: firefox Ubuntu 10.10 (Linux ... 2.6.35-22-generic-pae #35-Ubuntu SMP Sat Oct 16 22:16:51 UTC 2010 i686 GNU/Linux) Firefox (3.6.12+build1+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.10.10.1) Firefox 3.6.12 running on my Ubuntu 10.10 box has been crashed occasionally with the well-known reported bug "Fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server". This time, I'm not quite sure if this bug relates to the aforementioned bug but perhaps it can bring some further evidences and be likely reproducible. I have repeated the situation several times and got identical results. 1) Install Firefox. 2) Start Firefox with a fresh profile (no add-on) 3) Open the URL http://emacsformacosx.com 4) Right click at the main menu or toolbar, then disable the "Navigation Toolbar" and "Bookmarks Toolbar" (no matter in which order). The crash should happen after these two toolbars are totally disabled. Step (3) and (4) can be performed in any order. That is, if you perform (4) then browse to http://emacsformacosx.com, the crash should happen immediately. In case further clarification or information is needed, please kindly let me know. I'm not quite sure if the .xsession-erros.old is useful but anyway, the file is enclosed. [Bug 1446410] Re: ubuntu 14.04 does not call iscsistart to login to iscsi boot target
in response to comment #5 This is not a kernel problem but rather a init script problem with initrd not executing `iscsistart` command to login to iscsi boot target. If you read bug description above, you will see there is a workaround by manually running this command on 14.04. I know sles11sp3/rhel6.1 or later are working even though their kernels are older than v4.0. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1446410 Title: ubuntu 14.04 does not call iscsistart to login to iscsi boot target To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1446410/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
