[Bug 305748] Re: sound is playing to loud

2009-02-20 Thread toothrot
Hi Peter!

I am going to convert this bug into a question, because there are ways
to configure alsa to have different loudness granularity. Hopefully
someone there can help you better (and faster!)

Regards,
Toothrot

P.S. You will be able to find this at

[Bug 319799] Re: File operations (copy, move, delete) don't work on a PTP gnome mounted Canon Camera

2009-02-20 Thread toothrot
Hey!

Try giving us some information from here:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingRemovableDevices as separate
attachments.

That will help us tell what is going on in Ubuntu so we can help fix it!

Just leave a note if the instructions are confusing, and we can help
explain it.

Thanks!
Toothrot

Hey!

Can you check your sound settings in (right click on the speaker icon by
the clock) to make sure the headphones aren't muted by default?

[Bug 292982] Re: can not change CPU frequency policy

2009-02-20 Thread toothrot
Check out /etc/laptop-mode/conf.d/cpufreq.conf

Also, if you ARE using a laptop, make sure laptop-mode is enabled. (/etc
/laptop-mode/laptop-mode.conf)

Otherwise, ondemand is the default power manager. It should not harm
performance at all, as it changes CPU states very quickly.

Hey!

See if you can do this:

Please include the information requested at

separate attachments.

Also, if you can't get to a console, try hitting CTRL+ALT+F2 to get to a
login screen.

[Bug 286625] Re: fglrx related problems with shutdown

2009-02-20 Thread toothrot
Hi Karl!

Thanks a lot for reporting this!

Please attach your X server configuration file (/etc/X11/xorg.conf) and
X server log file (/var/log/Xorg.0.log) to the bug report as individual
uncompressed file attachments using the "Attachment:" box below. Could
you please also try to run without any /etc/X11/xorg.conf and let Xorg
autodetect your display and video card? Please also attach the
/var/log/Xorg.0.log from this attempt.

I'm not exactly sure what is going on here, can you give me something a
little more straightforward to reproduce it?

Also, try using numlockx to toggle numlock state.
