[Bug 38442] Re: Ubiquity dialogues too large for 800x600 display
I have this problem, too, in the release version of jaunty. It's most problematic on the manual partition setup step if there are more than a few partitions, such as when creating separate partitions for /, /home, /usr, etc... In my case, having six partitions vertically stretches the window to over 1000 pixels. I was able to find a workaround for this in KUBUNTU. Right click on the title bar, Advanced -> Special Window Settings. On the Geometry tab, check Size, select Apply Now and change the vertical component of the resolution to something that works on your screen. Unfortunately, the section of the window where you setup the partitions is now extremely short and barely usable and the window will reset back to the original resolution if any change is made to the partition scheme. In my opinion we, should get rid of those colored bars for the partition usage, as they do absolutely nothing. The section that actually manipulates the partitions, sets mount points and filesystems is what is really important here. -- Ubiquity dialogues too large for 800x600 display https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/38442 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I'm hesitant to say this is fixed... The ISO I tested used Gnome, but I use Kubuntu. I could not test the Kubuntu Alpha2 ISO, it crashed right after login. I did not see the bug at all in Gnome Ubuntu, and performance was very good from testing glxgears and the advanced visual effects. I didn't see that unknown parameter thing in dmesg, either. [Bug 381746] [NEW] [jaunty] desktop flickers through OpenGL screensavers with Desktop Effects
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel I am running 32 bit Kubuntu Jaunty on a Toshiba A135 with Intel GMA950. When Desktop Effects are enabled and an OpenGL screensaver is activated, parts of the desktop will flicker through it. When the mouse is moved, the screensaver will disappear, showing the entire desktop behind it, but it might also go completely black. After a few seconds of typing the password to unlock, the screensaver will reappear with the password prompt partially flickering through it. It still successfully unlocks. The problem is most noticeable with the screensavers Flux and Euphoria, though all OpenGL screensavers I've tested exhibit the problem to some extent. Kern.log shows the following shortly after running locking/unlocking: [87803.147414] [drm:i915_getparam] *ERROR* Unknown parameter 6 Works for this are disabling Desktop Effects or using a non-OpenGL screensaver. [Bug 380365] [NEW] kde widget info draw error
Public bug reported: On Kubuntu Jaunty 9.04, there is a bug with KDE's drawing of info windows. When you mouse over a program or widget on the task manager, a little window pops up describing it. However, if a program is under where the info box will appear, sometimes part of the wallpaper will be drawn instead of the the window. Steps to reproduce: 1. Open konsole, move it to the lower right of the screen. 2. Mouse over a widget in the lower right of the screen until the info box pops up. 3. Mouse over the konsole icon on the task manager until its info window comes up. Where the pop up from the widget was, there is now part of the desktop painted over konsole! Other miscellaneous info: Desktop Effects are disabled. x86. There's a lot of talk about regressions in the intel driver, they might be related. This doesn't affect every program.
