[Bug 253422] Re: Realtek ALC883 speakers don't mute when headphones plugged in

2009-01-02 Thread tanas
I don't have spdif either, but I've been using this workaround for more than a
year now (since Gutsy), and everything worked fine with mic, headphones.
And another thing, I didn't choose targa-2ch-dig because I found this bug
report - it didn't exist back then - I tried the different options at
ALSA-Configuration.txt for ALC883, and this was the only one that made things
work back then. One detail, the options available in ALSA-Configuration.txt
were a lot less one year ago (something like 6 or 7, now there are 21). So it
may be that there is some other option that makes it all work.

As I said, the problem is "solved" now that I have a clean Feisty
installation, so I guess there is no use in sending the file (I'll be
glad to do it, in case you think it's worth it).

As I also said, the problem was constant with my "old" Fesity
installation, where I completelly removed and reinstalled vpnc 0.4 and
vpnc 0.3.3 three or four times each (one at a time of course). 0.3.
always worked, but 0.4 never did.

Re: [Bug 122045] Re: "no response from target" with 0.4.0(1.1) but not with 0.3.3

2007-09-24 Thread tanas
I'm using vpnc 0.4.0-2ubuntu1.1, and it's working fine on my "new"
Feisty installation. Back on my "old" Feisty, I had to force synaptic
to keep the old repository for 0.3.3.

Unfortunately I don't have the old debug output.

And according to the IT services of the company, I was the only one
having a problem with vpnc.. But Linux it's not their speciality.

I'll reply again in a week or two, if I have problems with the
upcoming Gutsy distro.

Thanks

I am so sorry for the report above. On a clean Feisty installation (same
computer, same server) I was able to connect using vpnc 0.4.0ubuntu1.1 to my

I can however garantee that the problem I had before was consistent: 0.4.0-1.1

which worked fine)

[Bug 93413] Re: vpnc dead peer detection disconnects immediately

2007-06-24 Thread tanas
I was indeed connected with 0.3.3.
vpnc said I was connected;
During the connection I checked my IP, and it was no longer the one I had
before, but the IP from the VPN Server I was connected to;
I was able to connect to online services that depend on the vpn connection
(intranet for instance);

With 0.4.0 I get the "no response" message after 14 or 15 seconds (not
30... possibly a new bug?) after I entered the password

[Bug 122045] "no response from target" with 0.4.0(1.1) but not with 0.3.3

2007-06-24 Thread tanas
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: vpnc

With vpnc 0.4.0ubuntu1.1 I get a "no response from target" 15 seconds
after introducing the logins and the passwords. However downgrading
0.3.3 solves the problem. I run both from the terminal, kvpnc is not
installed.

I tried the upgrade and downgrade twice and the results are always the same.
I ran a very primitive test (newbie) to check if I got connected to the VPN
Server during those 15 seconds: I was monitoring the download rate of a file,
and it was constant (apart from usual fluctuations), so I guess I never got
connected.

I've seen some entries on forums about this, but no bug was reported

[Bug 69271] Ubuntu partitioning procedure (during installation) damages the Acer Recovery Partition with MSWin

2006-10-30 Thread tanas
Public bug reported:

What happened:

- When installing Ubuntu 6.06 from CD, I didn't touch the PQSERVICE
partition (FAT32 recovery partition that comes with an Acer laptop,
including Windows XP and other Acer Software and drivers).

- When returning to Windows XP, the application monitor.exe (that
belongs to the AcerRecovery tools) boosts in CPU Usage, so that the
system becomes very very slow. (Killing the process is enough to solve
the problem)

- After checking many forum posts I realized that this is always a
symptom of problems of AcerRecovery when trying to access the pqservice
partition. (Don't ask why it does it every time you turn windows on)

Other important information

- I've partitioned my disc before when installing Fedora (more than
once) and this didn't happen.

- The pqservice partition is apparently ok. Same size, same file system,
same name, same place...

- I obviously cannot repeat the procedure (would have to buy a new
laptop for that), but in all cases I read on the web there were always
these points in common: Acer laptop + ubuntu partitioning = problem with
monitor.exe accessing pqservice partition

- Soon after installing 6.06 I updated to 6.10. I guess this is
insignificant because I updated, I didn't reinstall. Anyway I didn't use
windows in the mean time, so I can't tell when the problem started.

2008-05-07 Thread Andrei Tanas
libapache2-mod-mono:
  Installed: (none)
  Candidate: 1.2.5-2
  Version table:
 1.2.5-2 0
500 http://archive.ubuntu.com hardy/universe Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

libapache2-mod-php5:
  Installed: 5.2.4-2ubuntu5
  Candidate: 5.2.4-2ubuntu5
  Version table:
 *** 5.2.4-2ubuntu5 0
500 http://archive.ubuntu.com hardy/main Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

If mod-php5 is not thread-safe and has to be built against prefork
worker, then there should be prefork version of mod-mono too, to make it
possible to run both at the same time.

[Bug 227781] [NEW] libapache2-mod-mono and libapache2-mod-php are mutually exclusive

2008-05-07 Thread Andrei Tanas
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: libapache2-mod-mono

In Ubuntu 8.04, libapache2-mod-mono depends on apache2-mpm-worker, while
libapache2-mod-php5 depends on apache2-mpm-prefork, which makes mono and php5
mutually exclusive.
I have just upgraded from 7.04, where this was never a problem - I used to run
successfully php5 and asp.net 2.0 web servers simultaneously.

** Affects: mod-mono (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New
