[Bug 253422] Re: Realtek ALC883 speakers don't mute when headphones plugged in

[Bug 253422] Re: Realtek ALC883 speakers don't mute when headphones plugged in
I don't have spdif either, but I've been using this workaround for more than a year now (since Gutsy), and everything worked fine with mic, headphones. And another thing, I didn't choose targa-2ch-dig because I found this bug report - it didn't exist back then - I tried the different options at ALSA-Configuration.txt for ALC883, and this was the only one that made things work back then. One detail, the options available in ALSA-Configuration.txt were a lot less one year ago (something like 6 or 7, now there are 21). So it may be that there is some other option that makes it all work. -- Realtek ALC883 speakers don't mute when headphones plugged in https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/253422 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

As I said, the problem is "solved" now that I have a clean Feisty installation, so I guess there is no use in sending the file (I'll be glad to do it, in case you think it's worth it). [Bug 69271] Ubuntu partitioning procedure (during installation) damages the Acer Recovery Partition with MSWin
Public bug reported: What happened: - When installing Ubuntu 6.06 from CD, I didn't touch the PQSERVICE partition (FAT32 recovery partition that comes with an Acer laptop, including Windows XP and other Acer Software and drivers). - When returning to Windows XP, the application monitor.exe (that belongs to the AcerRecovery tools) boosts in CPU Usage, so that the system becomes very very slow. (Killing the process is enough to solve the problem) - After checking many forum posts I realized that this is always a symptom of problems of AcerRecovery when trying to access the pqservice partition. (Don't ask why it does it every time you turn windows on) Other important information - I've partitioned my disc before when installing Fedora (more than once) and this didn't happen. - The pqservice partition is apparently ok. Same size, same file system, same name, same place... - I obviously cannot repeat the procedure (would have to buy a new laptop for that), but in all cases I read on the web there were always these points in common: Acer laptop + ubuntu partitioning = problem with monitor.exe accessing pqservice partition - Soon after installing 6.06 I updated to 6.10. I guess this is insignificant because I updated, I didn't reinstall. Anyway I didn't use windows in the mean time, so I can't tell when the problem started. ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Ubuntu partitioning procedure (during installation) damages the Acer Recovery Partition with MSWin https://launchpad.net/bugs/69271 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
