[Bug 192278] Re: wpa_supplicant does not start on boot
Hi Joachim, thanks for looking into this and proposing a fix. I have been waiting for this for over 6 months now (sorry, I reported it too late). Anyway, I vote for applying this patch as a temporary solution to the problem. A better fix will be to make ifup to fail if wpasupplicant fail. That way one would not relay on the write-ability of a particular file system, which may change over the time, and reintroduce the problem. Also, such an approach will never expose the machine to another network (if this happens because of some other problem in wpasupplicant). Thanks again for the detailed explanation of the problem, and the proposed fix. [Bug 360148] Re: p54usb module loading problem
I have the same problem with wireless usb adapter Netgear WG111v1. When it tries to load the p54usb module, it utilizes the cpu to 100% (I see in process list modprobe taking 100%). I can not even kill this process. The message in /var/log/messages is: usb 1-3: firmware: request isl3890usb Looking here: http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/p54/devices I see it should be isl3886. So, the p84usb module selects a wrong firmware. Btw, blacklisting the r8180 driver, and installing ndiswrapper and the Realtek driver for RTL8180 works OK. [Bug 464060] Re: 9.10 cannot use ibus or scim to input Chinese
Arne. I think most people leaving a message here are those who cannot set the way they want by using default ibus setting. For example, I want (Quick) Chinese input method, which is not there by default. That's why I add a line in sources.list file. Secondly when I reinstall ibus, this message pops up. ## "IBus has been started! If you can not use IBus, please add below lines in $HOME/.bashrc, and relogin your desktop." This is for those who still cannot use ibus, even it is started. So this line is optional. Of course, after doing all that, I still need to go to System->Administration->Language to set my desired input method framework. BTW, I have to say this Ubuntu 9.10 is pretty good. I have a clean installation and the only two things I need to twist are Quick Chinese input and my webcam. The others are working prefectly. I am going to unsubscribe this post. Run "IBus preference" and see your input method. 8. I can see my language setting on the "keyboard" icon ONLY when an application starts. [Bug 1606210] [NEW] Initial Startup "This is not an official Ubuntu package"
Public bug reported: I have just purchased a pre-installed Ubuntu 14.04 laptop, and encountered a problem on the initial startup. After setting up the languages, timezone and usernames, an error message popped up in the installation process of which it was in the state of "retrieving files". The error message showed "An error occurred while installing packages:" and listed a set of prompts after "command", then follows "the following packages are in a broken state:". After clicking "ok", it attempts to report the "bug", and failed. Finally, another message popped up saying that "The problem cannot be reported: This is not an official Ubuntu package. Please remove any third party package and try again." I purchased this laptop from a reliable retailer, so I am sure that the Ubuntu package should be legitimate. I have also heard that this message often pops up as an error, in cases that the installation crashed due to hardware or other problems. I am very new to Ubuntu. I apologise for my lack of professionalism in my descriptions. Please state any possible matters in the comments. Thank you. ** Affects: apport (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1606210 Title: Initial Startup "This is not an official Ubuntu package" To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apport/+bug/1606210/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
